Rowan Optical was founded to address the decline in mechanical quality within online eyewear. Most commercial spectacles have been reduced to thin injection-moulded plastic frames fitted with loose plastic hinges that lose alignment within weeks of purchase.

We partner directly with established material mills: plant-based cellulose acetate from Mazzucchelli in Italy and cold-drawn beta-titanium from Sabae in Japan. Every frame front is cut, tumbled in walnut shells for four days, and hand-finished on cotton polishing wheels. Before any pair leaves our London workshop, a technician checks four-point alignment and hinge torque.

We sell directly from our workbench to your home. We accept payment on delivery or via bank transfer, dispatch every confirmed order in protective clamshell boxes, and uphold a clear thirty-day return policy for unused frames.
